A Landmark at Your Entrance
Monument signs in Aiken give your property a permanent marker at the road, so customers see your name well before they reach your door. A monument stands on its own at your entrance, built to reflect your brand. A pylon lifts your name higher for faster roads. Both anchor you on your stretch of road, whether that is an office drive, a shopping entrance or a commercial lot in Aiken, North Augusta or Augusta.
Sized to Your Road and Your Property
We build these freestanding signs around where they stand and who has to read them.
- Monument signs for an entrance, built to reflect your brand and hold attention from the road.
- Pylon signs that lift your name up where drivers can find it from farther off.
- Pole signs that give a smaller lot a strong presence on the road.
- Lit builds for a business that wants the sign working at night.
Want something lighter? Post and panel signs cover a lot of ground at the roadside with a simpler build. And if a monument is one part of a bigger plan, our exterior signs page shows what can go on the building to match it.
From Open Ground to Landmark
- We walk the site. We come to your property, measure and look at where drivers first see you and where the sign can legally stand.
- We design it. You see a proof of your sign before production, and changes get made at that stage.
- We take on the permit work. On most exterior jobs, our sign permit service handles the forms, the submission and the coordination with the city or county.
- We build and install. The sign gets built to your approved proof, then set in place by our crew.
A Quote That Covers the Whole Site
Size, materials and lighting set the starting point. A freestanding sign also depends on the ground around it, so we look at site items that a wall sign never touches: removing an existing sign, underground utilities, electrical trenching, permit revisions and putting the landscaping back. We look at those items on the site visit, so your free quote reflects your property. Our sign cost guide has more on budgeting for a monument.
Planned for the Ground You Own
Where a monument can stand depends on who governs your address.
- City of Aiken: freestanding signs are generally limited to one per lot and may not project into the right-of-way, and applications need a property survey.
- Unincorporated Aiken County: the county table lists freestanding signs and does not name monument as a type, so check how yours will be classed.
- Augusta: limits vary by zone. Stated examples are 100 square feet and 20 feet in B-1, and 200 square feet and 30 feet in B-2, LI and HI, with a 10 foot right-of-way setback.
Those lines can change, and a permit or review may be required, so confirm with the City of Aiken planning office, Aiken County Planning and Development or the Augusta Planning and Development Department. You can read more in our Aiken sign rules guide.
Weather counts too. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and tropical storms bring rain inland here in summer and fall, so a sign that stands alone in the open gets planned with that in mind.
