Questions and answers
How long does it take to get a custom sign made?
It depends on the type of sign and how involved it is. Simple vinyl decals and banners can often be ready in 3 to 5 business days. Channel letters, monument signs and illuminated signs typically need 2 to 4 weeks, depending on materials, permitting and the build. We set out a clear timeline for your job during the quote.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes. Every project gets a free, no-obligation quote. Call or text 803-226-2585, email Chris@theaikensignco.com or send your details through our contact page, and we will review the job and send you a detailed estimate.
What areas do you serve?
Will you handle the design for my sign?
Yes. Our sign design help is done in-house. We work from your logo and brand guidelines, or help you build a design from scratch, and every proof gets a careful review before production.
What types of exterior signs do you make?
We design, build and install channel letters, monument signs, pylon signs, cabinet signs, post and panel signs, dimensional lettering, illuminated signs and custom outdoor signs. A new storefront sign, a freestanding monument at your entrance or a lit cabinet for a shopping center are all in our wheelhouse.
Do you handle sign permits?
Yes, permits are part of our process on most exterior jobs. A permit or review may be required, confirm with your city or county planning office, and our sign permit help covers the paperwork, submission and coordination for you.
How long do outdoor signs last?
A professionally built and installed exterior sign often lasts 10 years or more with proper care. Exact life depends on the materials, the install and the weather. We use commercial-grade materials made for South Carolina heat, humidity and UV exposure.
Can you install signs you did not build?
Yes. We install new signs we build and existing signs made elsewhere. That covers relocating, remounting or a straight install.
What kinds of interior signs do you make?
We make lobby signs, dimensional lettering, acrylic wall signs, metal plaques, wayfinding and directional signs, ADA signs, frosted window graphics, vinyl wall murals and custom branded displays. Your interior is one of the most overlooked places to build your brand, and we take it seriously.
Do you make ADA signs?
Yes. We make ADA signs with braille and tactile lettering, including room identification signs, made to the ADA standard. What each space needs is confirmed by your architect or code office.
Can you make a custom lobby sign with our company logo?
Yes, and it is one of the strongest first impressions your business can make. We build dimensional logo signs in acrylic, metal, aluminum, PVC and more, working from your logo files or helping you shape a design that translates well to a physical sign.
How long does a vehicle wrap last?
A professionally installed full wrap typically lasts 5 to 7 years under normal conditions, and partial wraps and decals run about the same. Hand washing and keeping the vehicle out of extreme conditions when you can both help. Our guide on how long wraps last has the details.
Will a wrap damage my vehicle's paint?
A properly installed wrap protects your paint from minor scratches, UV fading and the elements. The vinyl is designed to come off cleanly, and a professional removal preserves the original paint underneath.
How much does a vehicle wrap cost?
It depends on the size of the vehicle, the complexity of the design and whether you want a full wrap, a partial wrap or decals. Our vehicle wrap cost guide walks through the numbers, and your quote is free.
How much does it cost to wrap a car in SC?
The price depends on how much of the car you cover and the film and design you choose, more than on the state you are in. Tell us the year, make and model and we will give you a real number for that car.
Is it cheaper to wrap a car than to paint it?
It depends on the paint job you compare it to. A wrap gives you color, graphics and paint protection in one job, and our wrap vs paint guide lays out the choice.
Can you wrap commercial trucks and fleet vehicles?
Yes. Fleet graphics and commercial truck wraps are one of our specialties, for single vehicles and full fleets. A wrapped work truck is among the most cost-effective ways a local business can advertise, because your name works every mile you drive.
Do you offer partial wraps or just full wraps?
We offer both, along with spot graphics and cut vinyl lettering and decals. A partial wrap with professional lettering is more affordable than a full wrap and still makes a strong impression.
How much does a sign for a business cost?
It depends on the sign type, size, lighting, materials and install. Our business sign cost guide explains what moves the number, and we quote every job free.
How much does a 4x8 sign cost?
That size can be a banner, a flat panel or something bigger, so the price depends on what it is made of and how it mounts. Tell us what you have in mind and we will quote it free.
Do you repair existing signs?
Yes. Our sign repair work covers burned-out lighting, damaged faces and cabinets, copy panel updates, repainting faded lettering and general refurbishment. A worn sign can often be restored for a fraction of the cost of a replacement.
Can you remove and reinstall a sign if we are moving locations?
Yes. We can take down your existing sign, store it if needed and reinstall it at your new location, so the sign you invested in moves with you.
Do you service signs you did not originally install?
In most cases, yes. We are happy to look at signs from other makers and handle maintenance, repair or refurbishment. Describe the sign and we will say what is possible.
